Talk For Writing Tasks

The tasks below have been produced by an organisation called Talk For Writing.

The Talk for Writing approach enables children to read and write independently for a variety of audiences and purposes within different subjects. A key feature is that children internalise the language structures needed to write through ‘talking the text’, as well as close reading.

As the name suggests, talk is central to the writing process and so your child will benefit from working through this booklet with you, rather than on their own.  The tasks in the booklet are clearly explained.  We recommend that your child works through the booklet gradually, undertaking one or two activities at a time.

The process used in this booklet will be familiar to your child as this is a method that we have used in our English teaching for many years at Gordonbrock.

With thanks to Talk for Writing https://www.talk4writing.co.uk/ for producing these resources and allowing us to share them with you.

As recommended by Talk for Writing, the school has made a donation to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity for the use of these booklets.
