CAMHS

The CAMHS team are an integral part of the Inclusion Service, a multi-agency service based at Kaleidoscope including specialist teachers, social workers and educational psychologists. The aim of the team is to address the mental health needs of children and young people in Lewisham education settings, who are presenting with mental health difficulties.

The service aims to provide a comprehensive multi-agency assessment of a child/young person’s mental health difficulties and learning needs.

Service user groups covered are:

  • The service is for children, young people and their families from 0 to their 18th birthday who are experiencing mental health difficulties, requiring a multi-disciplinary approach
  • Children and young people who are registered with a Lewisham GP and attend a Lewisham school, or in some cases an early years setting.
  • The service will also provide an initial assessment for young people attending a Lewisham school without a Lewisham GP, however complex cases will be referred to their local CAMHS service.
  • Children on the autistic spectrum may also access CAMHS provision through the inclusion service where there are clearly defined mental health issues.

Exclusion criteria:

  • Young people over 18
  • Children attending a Lewisham special school (seen by the neuro-developmental team)
