Key Stages

Key Stages

There are three distinct but connected phases of school life:

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Key Stage 1 (KS1) Key Stage 2 (KS2)
Nursery & Reception (ages 3 to 5) Years 1 & 2 (ages 5 to 7) Years 3 to 6 (ages 7 to 11)

One teacher has the lead responsibility for the class, and is supported by other teachers and teaching assistants. Classes are often broken into sets for teaching, so by the time the children are in years five and six they are confident at working with a number of adults, a vital skill for secondary school.

Each year group has up to 90 children, divided into three mixed ability classes with the exception of our current Years 3 and 4 which have been spread over five classes with two classes in both years and one class with a mix of both year groups.
