At Gordonbrock we place great emphasis on self discipline and praise. Gordonbrock recognizes and rewards good behaviour. We encourage children to understand why certain kinds of behaviour are much more acceptable than others. We help them to understand why we need rules and encourage self respect, respect for other people, other cultures and our environment. Our school rules are made known to everyone through our work, behaviour and expectations.

The school behaviour and anti bullying policies are available for you to look at under the policies section on this website. It helps us enormously if we all work together in managing behaviour. We have 6 school rules that apply wherever the children are in the school:

Do be gentle.
Do be kind and helpful.
Do take time to learn.
Do look after property.
Do listen to people.
Do be honest

There are some types of behaviour which we consider unacceptable and will treat very seriously. Any form of racism, sexism, homophobia or violence are examples of such behaviour. All of the staff at Gordonbrock School ensures that standards of discipline are very high. We expect children to respond to all adults in school appropriately, and to show good standards of behaviour if they are outside of school on visits or journeys. Fighting is not acceptable nor is retaliation. Serious incidents will involve discussion between the child’s parents/carers and the senior staff in order to decide on the appropriate course of action.

We do not believe in, and never use, corporal punishment. Good behaviour and kind or helpful actions are shared with the whole school. We consciously take the time to thank children for good behaviour.
