Connecting to the Wireless

·        Once the Notebook has been switched on and loaded, press FN (bottom left hand corner of the keyboard) and F9 at the same time.
·        Once this has been done, at the bottom right hand corner of the screen, on the task bar you will see a little icon of a computer with three waves moving away from it with a red cross through it.  Double click on this icon.
·        At the new window that appears, on the left hand pane, you will see Refresh Network List.  Click on this and wait until it has completed refreshing.  After it has finished refreshing, a list of available wireless networks will be in view. Select your network (Gordonbrock for school) and double click.
·        Once you have double clicked on your wireless network, if your machine has a password a screen will appear asking you to enter the password.  (School Wireless Key - 1234567890).  Once this has done you should be connected to your wireless.
Proxy Settings
·        Once in Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings.  Once you have clicked on LAN Settings, at the bottom of the screen will be your proxy settings, when you are at school it should be ticked and when at home it should be unticked.  ( The internet will not work at home if it is ticked)
·        If the lines are blank for the proxy settings, here are the details: proxy1.equinoxsolutions.comand in the port field type 80.  Click OK and then OK again, refresh the page by clicking the green icon at the top (or by pressing F5).
Handy Hints
·        To turn on the laptop use the same switch you would use to open the lid – found at the front of the laptop.
·        Please be patient when turning the wireless connection on using FN and F9 – if pressed too many times, you will turn the wireless on and off making it difficult to connect to the internet.
·        To check you are connected to the wireless, an icon should pop up in blue when you press FN and F9. If it has a red cross through it, you have disconnected from the wireless connection.

For technical problems please call the Home Access Helpline on 0800 0093636 Option 3. Lines are open from 8am – 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 6pm Saturday and Sundays. Please note the call centre is not open on Bank Holidays. When placing a call please inform the operator that the laptop was purchased from Centreprise through Lewisham.
